MECHANICAL ENGINEER
What you'd do
YOU WILL SERVE AS A MECHANICAL ENGINEER IN THE ENGINEERING FST, MATERIALS AND INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING FST, INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL WORK DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION OF FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Major duties
You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for planning, coordinating, conducting, and solving issues requiring reverse engineering and/or advanced measuring solutions. You will provide engineering expertise while supporting in-service engineering on complex Naval aircraft, maritime and/or their associated subcomponents. You will ensure the technical engineering competence, knowledge, and professional services required to sustain the manufacturing processes, associated components programs, and related machinery. You will formulate short-term and long-range program plans and ensures that program milestones established provide adequate time and resources for implementation by contractors, field activities and participating government agencies. You will analyze information requirements to develop and maintain the information reporting system in scope to serve as a reference source for briefing program officials about the current technical, financial and schedule status of the program. You will maintain knowledge of CAD/CAM programs required as well as subtractive and additive manufacturing policies and procedures.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the 12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional MECHANICAL ENGINEER performing duties such as: 1) Plans, coordinates, conducts, and solves issues requiring reverse engineering and/or advanced measuring solutions for complex Naval aircraft, maritime, and/or their associated subcomponents; 2) Utilizes advanced measurement solutions and equipment, including laser trackers and portable CMM scanners for dimensional inspection, verification, and reverse engineering; 3) Demonstrates high-level proficiency in CAD packages such as Solidworks, Siemens NX, Geomagic, or Fusion360 for parametric solid modeling, complex surface generation and the creation of detailed engineering drawings; 4) Applies design principles for additive manufacturing (AM) principles to develop and qualify components using both polymer and metal AM industrial technologies.
