IT SPEC (APPSW)
What you'd do
You will serve as a IT SPEC (APPSW) in the Programs and Resources Division of HQ US MARINE CORPS.
Major duties
You will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining mainframe and/or web-based applications. You will perform application design, programming, and test work involving the full range of applications development activities for major software projects, such as prototype systems supporting an important agency line program. You will analyze work processes and operations to determine the feasibility of developing new programs or upgrading existing ones to improve the efficiency and productivity of business practices You will analyze technical specifications and translates them into integrated applications that automate business processes. You will update and modify existing applications and be responsible for continuous maintenance of automation programs.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Administering, documenting, and supporting middleware systems in collaboration with developer teams and customers throughout the software development lifecycle. In addition to specialized experience, you must also meet the following competencies; Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Performing tasks with a high level of thoroughness. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifying a client or customer need and providing a quality product or service. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Communicates effectively through oral presentations. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Assessing problems, identifying underlying causes, and delivering correcting recommendations and resolutions.
