INSTRUMENT MECHANIC

Major duties
You will maintain parts, materials, tools, and equipment at prescribed levels for instrument work. You will calibrate and maintain cleanliness of test instruments used in wastewater systems. You will inspect, test, modify, and calibrate Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA) to maintain operational efficiency. You will repair mechanical, electronic, physical, and electro-mechanical test devices or instruments used to measure equipment at a wastewater lift station. You will use shop mathematics (e.g., algebra, geometry, basic physics) relating to electrical and electronic functions to accomplish initial operational checks and the calibration and final testing of instruments and equipment.
What you need to qualify
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Must have experience and knowledge with maintaining mechanical and electrical systems. 2) Must have experience with trouble shooting electrical systems. 3) Must posses basic knowledge of electrical systems. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. **NOTE** This information must be supported by your resume in order to be considered for this position.
