What you'd do

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Visual Information Specialist producing designs, productions, and displays of a variety of visual materials for publications, exhibits, and presentations, while maintaining the Intranet and Internet website pages for the facility and on-site facility digital boards.

Major duties

Major duties: Communicates with Contracting Officer on all contractor compliance issues. Meets with the author or project creator to learn the specific information objectives of the project. Regularly meets with subject matter experts with information on the Internet and Intranet (SharePoint) sites to ensure all information is current and correct. Collaborates across service and disciplinary lines, often working with Service Chiefs, and Senior Leadership. Collaborates with stakeholders to define informational objectives and the nature of the intended audience. Stakeholders are subject matter experts in their scope of work but not in graphic design theory and processes and as such the incumbent must be skilled in transforming complex topics into graphic design that supports visual communication without having expertise in the subject matter being displayed. Plans with speakers the visual materials needed for specific presentation, and how the visuals will be presented. Coordinates, plans, organizes, and executes formal requests for media productions including but not limited to negotiating content, deadlines, and setting priorities. Responsible for the administrative management of and ensuring the quality of all media productions released by Medical Media and maintains the Intranet and Internet website pages for the facility and on-site facility digital boards to ensure all information is current and accurate. Responsible for maintaining operating material inventories and requesting media equipment and supplies while keeping within the fiscal year budget allocations. Safeguards passwords, CAC card, keys, and other means to ensures both physical and computer security. Supports virtual, live, and recorded conferences, trainings, presentations, teleconferences, and meetings. Directs live, unrehearsed, and interactive video teleconferences, webinars, and other virtual meetings. Coaches presenters on ways to optimize the available technology and space while delivering their message. Work Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Physical Requirements: The work is performed primarily while seated at a computer workstation and requires no special physical demands, although some physical exertion may occasionally be required such as standing for extended periods, bending, some lifting of heavy materials, cutting, trimming, or collating. The work requires good eyesight, manual dexterity, and color discrimination.

What you need to qualify

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/31/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-9. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements. OR EDUCATION: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment.Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.
