Major duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Supervisory Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Providing leadership and administrative oversight, including monitoring the progress of a division in coordinating the rural health research activities while providing executive level management leadership and consultation on health service research and health policy issues. Evaluating performance; provides instructions on work and administrative matters; interviews and selects candidates for subordinate positions; resolves employee problems; initiates disciplinary measures when indicated and recognizes noteworthy contributions as warranted. Providing advice and counsel to the Office and Agency leadership on the unique rural issues affecting health services and the research that documents those challenges. Identifies strategies and initiatives designed to disseminate research findings. Serving as a national expert on rural health service issues including access to rural survey data, rural viability of major national datasets and the statistical challenges of surveying rural populations. Serving as a national expert on health care financing and other health policy issues and initiatives that affect rural health care providers and practitioners throughout the country.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Have experience that provide: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing at least ALL of the following: Providing executive-level advice to senior leadership on rural health services research and policy, including Medicare, Medicaid, the Health Insurance Marketplace, and CHIP, with a focus on health finance and quality impacting rural providers and patients. Planning and implementing multi-year strategic research portfolios. Supervising professional staff and managing organizational performance. Serving as an expert and interagency liaison on complex rural health policy matters. Representing the organization in high-visibility forums involving federal, state, and external stakeholders.
