Physical Security Specialist
What you'd do
This position is in Region 7, Mission Support Division, Security, Safety, and Facilities Management. About Region 7: Region 7 This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.
Major duties
You will: Direct regional facility physical security programs (perimeter, entry/exit, access control, internal security, and security planning). Lead strategic and programmatic planning and implementation on all physical security matters. Manage security operations to protect personnel, property, facilities, operations, and materials from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, threats, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, and loss. Work collaboratively and proactively with Facilities Manager and Health and Safety Manager to support sound security controls for the region to ensure the protection of EPA employees and property. Design, deliver, and facilitate formal and informal training on physical security procedures, security awareness, Occupant Emergency Plans, and Continuity of Operations, tailored to the specific needs of the facility and program. One or more positions may be filled (in the organization advertised and/or in other organizations), if appropriate to the position.
What you need to qualify
NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as providing expert level advice and direction on a broad range of physical security programs; managing and coordinating physical and personnel security programs; and developing and implementing occupant emergency plans and activities, as well as continuity of operations programs. You will need the following competencies in order to perform the duties of this position successfully: Program/Project Management/Evaluation* Physical Security* Critical Thinking Customer Service* Decision Making Attention to Detail Written Communication Oral Communication *You will be evaluated on these critical competencies. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
