About the position: This position is Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to Griffith Field House and Doughboy Gym, Fort Dix, NJ.

Major duties

Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of day-to-day operation of the JB-MDL Fitness Center. Serves as desk attendant ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment and adhere to Fitness Center policy. Greets visitors, answers telephones, makes reservations for classes or use of equipment and facilities, and provides information on scheduled events and classes. Provides assistance and basic instruction to patrons in the proper use of exercise machines and equipment. Issues sports equipment and completes required documentation for transactions. Inspects returned equipment noting damage. Inspects all equipment and facilities according to established standards and local fire and safety procedures. Reports damaged exercise equipment to supervisor. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities in accordance with written guidelines. Maintains and prepares Fitness Center facilities, grounds and equipment for daily use, programs and special functions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have responsible experience in clerical, office, cash handling or retail sales store work of any kind which demonstrates the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Must possess a current American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days of hire. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must be able to read, speak and write English and communicate effectively with patrons. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. May be required to work uncommon tour of duty.
