About the Position: Serves as Financial Technician and performs analysis and evaluation of financial, budget and accounting and travel data pertaining to a diverse fund environment for a Defense Health Agency (DHA) Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) Office Environment with access via stairs and elevator.Office Hours are 0700-1700. Work hours can fall within that range. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major duties

The Financial Technician is responsible for the control and coordination of required actions to support the successful deployment, operation, and management of Defense Travel System (DTS). Serves as the source for reporting DTS problems and correcting administrative problems; liaison with the DTS Help Desk. Serves as DTS Certifying Official and ensures requested entitlements are in accordance with the Joint Federal Travel Regulation and local policy through processing travel vouchers for audits. Maintains Departmental Travel budgets by loading funding targets in the Defense Travel System budget module and updating as required. Inputs routing data for authorizations and vouchers in the DTS system. Loads, verifies and maintains personal profiles for the organization. The Incumbent is responsible for providing the Lines of Accounting (LOAS) to travel requests. Provides cross organizational funding information for personnel. Assists with travel preparations and provides per diem allowances to travelers for a wide variety of travel orders to include individual Temporary Duty and Invitational travel. Provides technical assistance on matters pertaining to all aspects of travel/temporary duty; maintains commitment/obligation, statical, and administrative files as required.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilization of accounting systems applying standard accounting codes, classifications and terminology; application of administrative rules, regulations and procedures associated with records, reporting, processing, and keeping track of budgetary transactions; providing advice and/or guidance on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06) OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
