Major duties
What to Expect Manages the daily operations of a comprehensive group exercise training program available to authorized patrons ranging in age and physical capability. Creates, designs, develops, and implements proven safe, effective, and research-based group exercise classes and programs based on industry standards and emerging trends. Manages and promotes group exercise classes and programs at multiple facilities. Implements American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) fitness and exercise safety guidelines. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance. Performs other related duties as assigned.
What you need to qualify
What are we looking for? Three years of experience in group exercise instruction. Bachelor's degree preferred in exercise physiology, exercise science, or other closely related field. Certification in group exercise is required from an organization recognized by Headquarters Marine Corps (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NSCA, Cooper Institute). Certification in one "specialty" format (i.e., step, cycle, Pilates, kickboxing, yoga) is required. Ability to develop and implement exercise classes. Must be CPR/AED and First Aid certified. Ability to supervise; deal effectively with subordinates, management officials, and patrons; communicate both orally and in writing, to include public speaking. Ability to use a computer and various software, including Microsoft Office. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license.
