About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the .This position serves as the irrigation specialist for the Golf Course Maintenance team at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. The primary responsibility is to maintain, repair, install, and operate the complex automated irrigation system. The job is physically strenuous, involving standing, bending, and lifting equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. It requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Major duties

Key Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repair: Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on all components of the irrigation system, including sprinklers, water lines, valves, and electrical-mechanical remote control systems. This includes overhauling parts, cleaning electrical contacts, and replacing faulty components. System Operation: Operates a Toro Osmac irrigation computer to set and adjust watering schedules based on plant and grass needs, which are determined through soil probing and visual inspection. Technical Tasks: Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment like ohmmeters and voltmeters, to perform duties. Maintains a stock of necessary replacement parts. Driving: Operates a vehicle to travel across the worksite for irrigation tasks. Qualifying Experience: Qualifications and Requirements: Experience: A minimum of six months of experience operating a computerized irrigation system is required, along with experience in automatic irrigation systems. Skills: The role demands knowledge of plumbing, electrical-mechanical controls, hydraulics, automatic valves, and controllers.
