ACCOUNTANT
What you'd do
You will serve as an Accountant in the Finance Department of NAVAL SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Major duties
You will review and analyze accounts and evaluate account balances, trends, and conditions to provide guidance to management. You will review a variety of financial documents for completeness, internal accuracy, and conformance with uniform accounting classifications of other specific accounting requirements. You will reconcile reports and financial data with financial reports on file, point out inconsistencies or errors, assemble information, and make comparative analyses. You will interpret accounting regulations and identify accounting problems such as inadequate maintenance of fund controls, inaccurate records and reports, or improper methods for document control, to support performance of regulatory reconciliation. You will interprete database input and output listings and resolves accounting systems problems with system accountants, local programmers, and system analysts.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing, evaluating and reviewing accounting data and reports; and 2) Providing financial advice and recommendations based on law, regulations and professional statements, and implementing them in accordance with regulations and procedures.
