Supervisory Medical Records Technician
What you'd do
The position is located at the Albuquerque I.H.S. Dental Clinic (AIDC), located on the grounds of Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI), Albuquerque, New Mexico. The purpose of the position is to provide leadership, oversight and supervision of front desk functions, scheduling/appointment coordination and electronic dental records (EDR) management. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Major duties
Manage and supervise the functions of the Health Information Management (HIM) department. Plans, designs and conducts in-service education program for AIDC staff for of privacy/security of patient information/confidentiality, records maintenance and retention/disposition. Review, analysis and technical evaluation of dental records in relation to the standards of Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), IHS and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Conducts audits and reviews to ensure adequate and proper documentation and accountability of all visits noted in patients' records. Responsible for the overall daily front desk operations to ensure that all scheduling and dental records management tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner. What you need to qualify
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: plans work to be accomplished by subordinates and prepares schedules; develops, directs and evaluates procedures assuring proper filing of medical records and reports; assigns and sequences codes to diagnose and procedures from documented information; identifies inconsistencies or discrepancies within the medical record. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
