What you'd do
About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Pine Bluff Arsenal. This position serves as an Industrial Worker, building munitions, and operating production machinery.
Major duties
Operating automatic machines and equipment to produce munitions, such as grenades and bombs. Mixing chemicals by operating electrically powered equipment for use in the production of munitions. Cleaning and sanitizing chemical-biological protective equipment in accordance with standing operating procedures. Repairing defective protective equipment by using hand tools to replace components according to established procedures. Inspecting protective equipment and components for defects by utilizing test equipment to ensure serviceability.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Industrial Worker (Munitions) without more than normal supervision which include the ability to operate standard and specialized production machines and equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Production line operators are required to perform work either sitting or standing for long durations depending upon assignment. Assignments such as sewing operations require the operator to sit for long periods with continual movement of hands, arms and fingers in placing items in position and sewing. Assignments to other production lines, workers frequently lift bombs, shells, and rocket casings, power charges, or other objects weighing 30 to 40 pounds. Workers frequently lift and carry cartons, materials, supplies and equipment weighing up to twenty pounds and may occasionally handle items weighing up to fifty pounds. Some assignments require lifting above 60 pounds at a production rate pace determined by line speed/engineering standards. May pull or push hand trucks weighing several hundred pounds. The work requires sitting, walking, bending, reaching, crouching, and long periods of standing. Endurance and eye-hand coordination are required to work at a steady pace and rhythm for long periods. Workers perform work on hard surfaces and in work areas requiring them to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Hand-trucks, dollies and other workers are available for assistance with heavier items. Working Conditions: Work is both inside and outside. The nature of the work is dirty, dusty, greasy, and noisy. Workers are required to stand on floors made of concrete for long periods of time. They wear protective clothing such as specially treated coveralls, safety shoes, respirators, protective masks, and goggles on most assignments. They are frequently exposed to moisture and wet floors as a result of cleanup operations in working areas. They are exposed to fumes from acids and explosives. They are exposed to the possibility of explosion and flash fire. There is chance of injuries ranging from loss of life or limb to burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, and nausea. Work is generally performed in areas that are well lighted, heated and ventilated. The individual may occasionally work inside areas that are drafty. There is a slight danger of contact dermatitis involved with handling used protective and safety equipment. The individual will occasionally be required to wear respiratory protective equipment and TAP clothing.
