What you'd do

As an Administrative Officer, you will be supporting the analysis of the New World Screwworm (NWS) outbreak and response, providing resource management leadership, analyses, advice and consultation and make recommendations to expedite expenditure requirements.

Major duties

The duties may include, but are not limited to: Directs the composition of letters, memoranda and other correspondence on all phases of personnel management and administrative services Assist directorate leadership with internal consultation to define, plan, and evaluate aspects of administrative, personnel, and resource management and provide guidance to leadership on complex issue Analyzes data collected through work measurements and other systems to provide advice on achieving the most efficient allocation and use of available resources. Develops systematic ways and structured approaches to improve the products and services and to identify and solve problems. Identifies administrative and program data and information needed to provide guidance to the NWS Directorate Leadership. Manages the preparation of analytical financial reports and studies and presents them to leadership

What you need to qualify

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Designing, planning, conducting, and overseeing work measurement, methods and procedures, such as determining resource requirements, streamlining, eliminating duplication, or developing work measurement standards. Assisting with administrative actions required for completing recruitment of permanent and temporary positions in accordance with all department and guidance. Coordinating with administrative teams across the business service sector, including IT, agreements, human capital, travel, and budget, to request resources, resolve gaps, and ensure the work unit's compliance with established policy. Developing systematic ways and structured approaches to improve the products and services and to identify and solve problems related to administrative resources. Analyzing and evaluating the effects of continuing changes in program plans and funding on the accomplishment of the organization's budget and milestones. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
