INTERDSICPLINARY GENERAL ENGINEER/PSYCHOLOGIST (ENGINEERING)
What you'd do
You will serve as a General Engineer or Psychologist (Engineering) in the Human Systems Engineering Department of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.
Major duties
You will use a variety of human factors and human-computer interaction techniques, processes, and methods to evaluate, and model systems that interact with human operators, including artificially intelligent, autonomous, and automated systems. You will provide authoritative input and advice on scientific issues and technical issues to ensure project requirements are met. You will provide expert guidance and recommendations, lead and conduct research, and advance the science and technology of human-autonomy teaming interfaces and systems. You will oversee the development of cost, schedule, and performance requirements for aviation weapons system program. You will provide guidance to integrated program team members in support of human system engineering and other technical program initiatives. You will exercise discretion and judgment in determining whether to broaden or narrow the scope of assigned projects/programs. You will maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders to support the success of the aviation weapons system programs. You will prepare written and oral presentations for stakeholders on project status, technical problems, scheduling, and costs for assigned program/project. You will accomplish other duties as assigned.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience as a Professional Engineer and/or Psychologist (Engineering) equivalent to the STRL DP-03 Pay Band or equivalent GS Grade Level (GS-09/11) in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience for this position include: 1) Applying a variety of methods to analyze, evaluate, and model systems using a human operator; 2) Demonstrating working knowledge and application of techniques and disciplines related to Human Factors Engineering and Human Computer Interaction such as human performance metrics, usability metrics, user interviews, team-dynamic measures, task analysis, workload analysis, optional sequence analysis, failure mode analyses, link analyses, computer simulations, mathematical modeling, and operations research; 3) Employing human factors metrics and techniques to test and evaluate autonomous or automated technologies and concepts in their interaction with human operators, such as task and mission performance metrics, workload management, trust metrics, situational awareness and workload metrics, system transparency, system mode effects, and error tolerance; 4) Applying advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes in research and engineering, test and evaluation, and logistics functions to support assigned aviation program; 5) Coordinating aviation program efforts to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives; 6) Interpreting policies promulgated by authorities to determine their effect on assigned program needs; 7) Formulating novel approaches using knowledge of industry, technical trade, or competency resolve a variety of nonrecurring technological problems; and 8) Assisting in determining the direction of technical work performed by others as well reviewing work of others and providing coordination and critical insights into their progress towards meeting agency mission and program goals.
