IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT)
What you'd do
You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT) in the G6 Department Marine Corps Installations of MARINE CORPS BASE.
Major duties
You will provide customer service and technical assistance to organizations and personnel supporting the networks. You will practice proper customer service protocols while providing technical operation and maintenance assistance to users regarding their end-user equipment and software, workstation, laptops, fax machines, printers, scanners, and other equipment. You will install, upgrade and troubleshoot commercial-off-the shelf (COTS) and Government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) applications on the command's networked workstations with little to no technical guidance. You will install network operating systems, network protocols, interface cables, RJ45s, RS232s and all software on networked or standalone computers. You will answer incoming calls for service providing technical trouble resolution for supported organization and enters the problem in a Troubleshooting Ticket System. You will remotely log into end user's computer and assists with setup, mapping drives or technical guidance.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing workstation support and network operations within a secure enterprise environment; installing, troubleshooting, and configuring software and hardware infrastructure; using automated ticket tracking systems to monitor status and ensure expeditious resolution. In addition to the specialized experience above, I also have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following five competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: I manage highly precise tasks like verifying secure messaging compliance on networks and executing critical database backups. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: I develop and maintain relationships with customers with diverse needs. I provide technical assistance to customers in the daily use of information systems. I assist with customer research and problem resolution. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: I provide clear and precise communication to resolve technical troubles, provide status updates, and to coordinate support. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: I troubleshoot, test and analyze computer equipment and software malfunctions.
