What you'd do

Become part of the team that safeguards the financial system from the abuses of financial crime. At the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), we are at the forefront in preventing and detecting terrorist financing, money laundering, and other financial crime. Serve at the nation's financial intelligence unit and protect the United States financial system from criminals and terrorist financiers.

Major duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Build, maintain, and advance FinCEN's relationships in order to support FinCEN's mission and policy goals in combatting global money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes. Advise and brief principals and other employees of FinCEN, Treasury's Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI) and its component offices (including the Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes (TFFC), Office of Intelligence Analysis (OIA), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)), and other U.S. government officials on FIU and AML/CFT priority issues related to the incumbent's portfolio. Drive and develop FinCEN and Treasury policy on the incumbent's portfolio, including: i) bilateral collaboration with FIUs; ii) illicit finance threats faced by FIUs; iii) opportunities to facilitate and shape information exchange between domestic and international stakeholders (e.g., FIUs, regulators, and law enforcement agencies); and iv) FIU capabilities. Independently represent FinCEN on senior U.S. government working groups, task forces, and interagency meetings, such as the National Security Council, State Department, Justice Department, Defense Department, and law enforcement and intelligence communities on priority AML/CFT matters, particularly on those areas within the incumbent's portfolio. Partner with law enforcement, components of FinCEN, and other agencies as appropriate to assist in investigations and facilitate cross-border requests for information and responses, particularly on those areas within the incumbent's portfolio. What you need to qualify

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé. Specialized Experience for the GS-14, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Developing written analyses or memoranda for senior officials regarding international or financial policy issues regarding course of action; AND - Designing and implementation of strategic partnerships with foreign counterpart, domestic and international law enforcement, intelligence or regulatory agencies; OR - Participating in meetings with foreign regulatory or international bodies such as Egmont Group, Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and other similar bodies. Specialized Experience for the GS-13, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Assisting with the development of written analyses or memoranda for senior officials regarding international or financial policy issues; AND - Participating in the design of strategic partnerships with foreign counterparts, domestic and international law enforcement, intelligence or regulatory agencies; OR - Participating in meetings with foreign regulatory or international bodies such as the Egmont Group, Financial Action Task Force (TATF) and other similar bodies. Specialized Experience for the GS-12: You must have one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes: - Assisting with the development of written analyses or memoranda for senior officials regarding international or financial policy issues; OR - Participating in meetings with foreign regulatory or international bodies such as the Egmont Group, Financial Action Task Force (TATF) and other similar bodies.
