What you'd do

You will serve as a Recreation Fee Clerk (Seasonal), in the Administrative Division. This is a temporary position with an initial appointment limited to one year or less, but may be extended for a total of 2 years. It does not confer permanent status. Major duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Collect appropriate fees the park recreation fee office while providing excellent customer service and refer issues to a higher graded employee or supervisor when necessary. Operate an electronic cash register, computer, or point-of-sale (POS) system to conduct financial transactions. Perform opening and closing shift functions. Issue entrance receipts, permits, park passes in accordance with established guidelines. Process refunds as needed. Complete shift reports to verify money collected, accountable stock sold, and all machine transactions from the shift, using shift accountability, receipt tapes, and register of voided transactions. Safeguard funds collected and accountable stock under the incumbent's control. Use automated reservation systems to process routine, simple payments, transactions, and reservations for campgrounds, tours, tickets, backcountry permits, Special Use permits, etc. Systems may include but are not limited to Recreation.gov and other automated platforms. Utilize fee program related technologies and equipment that include hardware, software and peripheral devices such as hand-held devices, computers, POS equipment, tablets, mobile phones, scanning devices, AFMs and reservation systems in accordance with established guidelines.

What you need to qualify

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/31/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. All candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. You MUST limit your resume to no more than 2 pages. If more than 2 pages are submitted, only the first 2 pages will be reviewed to determine your eligibility/qualifications. You can only submit one resume; only the resume submitted under the "Resume" "Document Type" will be used to determine your qualifications and for rating purposes. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Handling Money - able to handle, collect, and account for money. To qualify for this position at the GS-04 level, you must possess one of the following: A. One year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that demonstrates your ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of Recreation Fee Clerk. General experience for this position must include: Customer service experience, experience with point of sale systems, experience using typical office equipment and software such as spreadsheet and email. -OR- B. Two years of education above high school (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. -OR- C. Equivalent combination of experience and education that, together, equal 100% of the qualification standards listed above when combined. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. ICTAP/CTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies.
