What you'd do

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO), Personnel Security Division(PSD). The primary purpose of this position is to supervise subordinates, review adjudications and recommendations submitted by personnel security specialists to ensure that their evaluations are consistent with governing executive orders, OPM guidance, and DHS directives. Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Major duties

As a SUPERVISORY PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-14, your typical work assignments may include: Reviewing adjudications and recommendations submitted by personnel security specialists to ensure that their evaluations are consistent with governing executive orders, OPM guidance, ODNI directives and DHS directives. Preparing and reviewing summaries of derogatory personnel security cases and makes final recommendations to the Chief, PSD, on the appropriate courses of action prior to employment and/or granting, denying or revoking security clearances and making suitability/fitness determinations. Maintaining liaison with other personnel security offices throughout the Federal government and private sector providing updated guidance to the specialists under his/her supervision. Identifing developmental and training needs of subordinates and designates assignments of the specialists under his/her supervision to ensure prompt completion of assignments. What you need to qualify

There are no Individual Occupational Requirements for this position. Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: possessing the mastered knowledge of serving as a technical advisor on personnel security issues to include; conducting analyses, evaluations, and internal inspections of programs; performing evaluations of policy; providing guidance to subordinates under his/her supervision; and interpreting guidance and law. Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement. Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary. If you are applying for a higher grade, please provide the SF-50 Form which shows the length of time you have been in your current/highest grade (examples of appropriate SF-50s include promotions, With-in Grade/Range Increases, and SF-50s dated a year apart within the same grade/job.
