What you'd do
This position serves as the Clinical Application Coordinator (CAC), providing an advanced level of competence in nursing involving direct nursing care and/or developing innovative nursing techniques, practice, and approaches. The position is located in the Division of Clinical Services at the Crownpoint Service Unit (CPSU) in Crownpoint, NM. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021). This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
Major duties
Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Registered Nurse Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) Serves as a specialist and integrator in the implementation, training and ongoing support of multi-service clinical software applications used in the hospital and clinic setting; uses the multi-service applications that support the Indian Health Service Electronic Health Record (EHR) and the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) are defined. Plans, develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates the designated software programs. Manages the customization of the sit parameters and addresses integration issues with other software packages. Clinical Duties - performs comprehensive professional nursing duties for the care of patients with a variety of injuries and illnesses in all age groups and their families who present with an unlimited range of health problems; preparing patients for tests, exams, and treatments; triages and provides emergency treatment according to standing orders. Coordinates with IT staff and other application coordinators to implement integrated packages, resolve conflicts, provide secondary support on related software modules, and ensure smooth operations in area where package scope overlaps or is integrated with other service functions.
What you need to qualify
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education - A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure - For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: GS-12 - At least one (1) or more full years of professional nursing experience equivalent to a GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience in implementing, analyzing, coordinating and evaluating multi-service clinical software applications in a hospital or clinic setting; experience coordinating services at advanced level of competence in nursing involving direct nursing care and/or developing innovative nursing techniques, practices, and approaches. Experience evaluating, managing and developing solutions to program failures following implementation of software patches. Experience teaching and training end-users regarding clinical software applications. The primary purpose is to improve patient care through the use of automation tools such as the computerization of clinical information to improve the standard of direct patient care.
