SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL SPEACIALIST
What you'd do
You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Navy Region Hawaii (COMNAVREG HI) Regional Safety Department (RSD). of NAVAL STATION.
Major duties
You will conduct safety surveys of all assigned facilities. You will assist managers in planning and managing a comprehensive safety and occupational health program. You will implement the confined space program, medical surveillance program, the hearing conservation program, and the respiratory protection program. You will investigate mishaps involving injuries and/or material damage to determine circumstances involved and the nature of injuries and/or damages. You will conduct safety education programs including mishap prevention, and industrial hygiene practices.
What you need to qualify
GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing local standards and guidelines to eliminate and/or control safety hazards in assigned areas; 2) Preparing and revising safety instructions and guides; 3) Analyzing mishap data to discover contributing factors and mitigation methods; and 4) Evaluating technical safety training to determine effectiveness and make adjustments. NOTE: Experience must be fully supported in your resume to be considered for this position. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical training to tenant supervisors and employees; 2) Performing periodic and unscheduled inspections; and 3) Investigating mishaps and unsafe conditions to resolve safety and health issues.
