Government and Industry Affairs Specialist
What you'd do
This position is located in the Office of Safety Recommendations & Communications, Government and Industry Affairs Division (GA). GA is the National Transportation Safety Board's (NTSB) primary liaison with Congress, the White House, the Government Accountability Office, other federal agencies, and state and local government. GA supports interaction with the transportation industry regarding agency initiatives.
Major duties
As a Government and Industry Affairs Specialist, GS-0301-12, you will perform the following major duties: Analyze Congressional and state government documents for items or issues of interest to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), including but not limited to, the Congressional Record, Committee reports, hearing transcripts, legislative bills, and resolutions. Respond to formal and informal inquiries from Members of Congress, state legislators, and staff to include responses to correspondence and written requests regarding NTSB operations, investigations, and policies. Assist senior staff in maintaining agency's relationships with Congress, government agencies, state and local officials and industry. Support management by tracking current information, reference files from previous Congresses, bills and resolutions introduced, committee reports, committee hearings, documents, and public and private laws enacted, impacting transportation safety.
What you need to qualify
To qualify for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: tracking policy and regulatory development activity to inform strategic decision-making; reviewing legislative items such as Congressional Record, Committee reports, hearing transcripts, legislative bills, and resolutions; and drafting responses to stakeholder inquiries.
