What you'd do

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN) of STRIKE FIGHTER WING PACIFIC STAFF.

Major duties

You will be responsible for the execution of departmental personnel management responsibilities. You will directly administratively and technically supervise and provide oversight and coordinate the action of all COMSTRKFIGHTWINGPAC/COMJSFWING N6 C5 assigned personnel (Civilians, military, and contractor personnel). You will report directly to the Commodore and Deputy Commodore for COMSTRIKFIGHTERWINGPAC and COMJSFWING. You will Serve as the N6 Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Combat Systems Director (C5) for policy and planning. You will develop and maintain strategic plans (i.e., develop plans, implements plans, organizes plans and overseeing standards) that establish the framework for managing all facets of IT activities dealing changing aircraft configurations. You will lead CTR for Shore Enterprise Network Services at COMSTRKFIGHTWINGPAC and COMJSFWING to support both NMCI/NGEN and ONE-NET asset, network and infrastructure requirements. You will direct the fielding, performance, sustainment, and technical refresh of enterprise assets which is comprised of over 2800 plus classified and unclassified seats located throughout CONUS and OCONUS sites.

What you need to qualify

I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ensuring the rigorous application of information security and information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of planning and management services. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing policy guidance to IT management, the staff and customers regarding Information Assurance (IA) policies and programs; development of information security policies and processes regarding rapidly evolving systems, networks and data vulnerabilities and risks. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Presenting, justifying, defending, negotiating, influencing and motivating others in matters involving significant or controversial issues (e.g. recommendations changing the nature and scope of programs or dealing with substantial expenditures). 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifying and analyzing problems; weighing relevance and accuracy of information; seeking, generating and evaluating alternative perspectives/solutions; making timely and effective recommendations based on potential implications of findings or conclusions. Critically evaluating causes of problems and identifying courses of action that balance the interests of the mission and stakeholders. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directly leading, managing, and/or supervising a large, diverse workforce. 2) Serving as a principal technical authority responsible for establishing, implementing, and enforcing operational IT policies, standards, and strategic plans. 3) Directing and overseeing mission essential IT systems, readiness programs, and secure shore/expeditionary networks. 4) Serving as the technical financial authority with delegated discretionary power to execute annual information technology and telecommunication budgets. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
