What you'd do

This a TEMPORARY, INTERMITTENT position is located in Consular Affairs, in the Executive Office, located in Washington, DC. The bureau seeks to elevate the use of data analytics methodologies and techniques in determining policies and making management decisions regarding the effectiveness of the bureau's programs and operations. The incumbent will serve as a senior program analyst and subject matter expert in data analytics to recommend and/or develop data-driven solutions.

Major duties

Identifies and translates complex data analytics concepts, findings, and limitations into concise, written and graphical data analysis in order to evaluate the effectiveness of program operations. Performs analyses to identify effective administrative processes and those that are ineffective across bureau and /or Department lines. Assesses progress of contractors towards achieving goals; Assesses project risk through continuous monitoring and communication with contractor, leadership, and customer stakeholders. Provides technical advice in the collecting, analyzing, interpreting and communicating insights from data; Provides internal and/or external data analyses methodological or system reviews, studies, projects, and data validation efforts. Researches and designs presentations and interpretations of analytical outputs tailored to specific audiences.

What you need to qualify

Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience receiving, digesting, and communicating complex information both orally and in writing. Experience analyzing and evaluating, on a quantitative or qualitative basis to meet established goals and objectives. Experience utilizing software and/or programming languages to conduct data analysis.
