ACCOUNTANT (STAFF)
What you'd do
You will serve as an ACOUNTANT (STAFF) in the Financial Management Department of NAVFAC OSF.
Major duties
You will analyze transactional accounting data from various automated accounting systems to ensure Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) compliance. You will develop tests and examinations of accounting systems, records, management controls, policies, and procedures. You will develop solutions for accounting systems to run inquiries, reports, or research data. You will evaluate accounting records to identify accounting problems and recommend corrective action. You will revise written guidelines to address accounting problems that involve multiple policies and regulations. You will improve an organization's internal accounting and administrative controls.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Mastering accounting and auditing theories, principles, practices, procedures and techniques independently performing a variety of internal control related assignments; 2) Identifying risks and developing corrective actions to address the root cause of the problem; 3) Utilizing automated system design procedures to describe system specifications and requirements and to conduct comprehensive assessments of the design, utilization and reporting operation; 4) Developing guidance, narratives, procedures and flowcharts to cover the full spectrum of financial reporting, operational and system activities to assist programs with resolving complex issues and address areas of risk; and 5) Communicating and presenting justifications and recommendations for corrective actions for process improvement and resolving complex issues.
