This vacancy is for a GS-0132-13, Intelligence Research Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, D8 INTELLIGENCE BRANCH -DRI in NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana.
Major duties
You will serve as an Intelligence Research Specialist and be responsible for providing intelligence support and guidance to all Coast Guard Heartland District Sectors, working with many varied and complex intelligence gathering and analysis situations, and conducting senior level briefings.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Collecting, reviewing, evaluating, interpreting, and performing first order analysis of law enforcement maritime intelligence; producing intelligence reports; disseminating tactical and operational intelligence to the port level operational commander and other intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Planning, organizing, and performing research and expert level analysis of complex major issues; defining the scope and objective of the research and devising solutions to problems that may require the development of new methods/approaches or additional methodologies to supplement conventional intelligence evaluation, to include GEOINT specific tools and graphics for CG use and dissemination. Performing long-range planning for the district's intelligence dissemination program, applying different and unrelated methods to develop and recommend expert level solutions. Maintaining constant liaison with personnel in assigned and related fields, such as those in other intelligence and law enforcement agencies and allied governments. Preparing expert level analyses that identifies, interprets, and explains pertinent issues and developments to the formulation and execution of actions or policy and to anticipate and formulate new operational requirements. What you need to qualify
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Demonstrated ability to: conduct collections and first order analysis of law enforcement intelligence information; complete expert level analysis of complex major issues. Perform long-range planning of District intelligence dissemination program. Prepare expert level analysis leading to formulation of intelligence action or policy development. Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to diverse groups of stakeholders.
