What you'd do
About the Position: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is located at the Naval Health Clinic Quantico Resource Management Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
Major duties
Perform minor construction and structural repairs. Installs and repairs drywall, trim, forms, scaffolds, and wood components. Replace damaged ceiling tiles, screens, steps, railings, siding, and door/window trim. Follow safety rules and maintains clean work areas. Use and maintains hand/power tools. Standard plumbing maintenance: repairs water heaters, faucets, toilets, and sinks. Perform basic preventive inspections on plumbing systems. Standard painting maintenance: Prepping surfaces, applying primers, paints, varnishes, and similar coatings. Replace fluorescent tubes, starters, ballasts, and sockets. Replace outlet/switch covers and light fixture plates. Install basic low voltage switches, receptacles, and bulbs. Drive light trucks, pickups, panel trucks, or flatbeds to transport materials. Load, unloads, and carry materials up to 50 lbs.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. I can perform variety of work primarily involving carpentry, painting, moving, assembly, and installation of furnishings, construction projects, and signage as well as related items included in the maintenance and repair of building interiors and exteriors. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. The incumbent exerts moderate to heavy physical effort while performing duties on benches, on level or uneven floors, and in cramped, confined, or awkward work areas. The role requires continuous standing and walking, with frequent bending, stretching, reaching, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and climbing of ladders, scaffolds, or platforms. The worker must be capable of pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. In addition to working under structures or in elevated positions, the incumbent is exposed to hazards ever-present when working with electricity, carpentry power tools, and the various tools of the masonry, plumbing, and mechanical trades. Safety protocols must be maintained while performing these tasks in diverse environments to mitigate risks associated with the trade crafts involved. The incumbent works in both indoor and outdoor environments, with frequent exposure to inclement weather and rapid temperature fluctuations. The work is typically performed in conditions that are dirty, dusty, or greasy. Duties performed from elevated surfaces, such as scaffolds, ladders, and rooftops, carry a risk of falls and significant injury. The worker is consistently exposed to hazards including cuts from hand and power tools, as well as flying debris (e.g., splinters, metal, and paint chips). Additional risks include exposure to sharp edges, physical strains, scrapes, and infections. Furthermore, the position involves potential for electrical shock when servicing circuits, as well as burns from soldering irons, torches, and various painting or cleaning chemicals.
