Supervisory IT Specialist
What you'd do
This position is in the Department of the Chief Information Office, Product Development Office (PDO), Business Administration System and Support Division (BASSD). The position leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for the user experience, architecture, development, and continuous improvement of administrative IT systems for the federal Judiciary, driving technical innovation while ensuring solutions meet agency security, quality, and cost-effectiveness standards.
Major duties
The Supervisory Information Technology Specialist serves as the Facilities and Physical Security Branch (FPSB) Chief within the Business Administration System and Support Division (BASSD). The incumbent focuses on managing FPSB staff and providing leadership through clear communication, employee development, performance management, conflict resolution, guidance, and recognition of contributions to help employees grow and achieve team objectives. The position reports to the Business Administration System and Support Division (BASSD) Chief and manages federal and contractual resources to support initiatives across the administrative business portfolio. The incumbent works in a customer-focused environment where high-quality deliverables must be completed on time. Duties include, but are not limited to: Providing solutions architecture and broad technology support Providing knowledge and direction to staff in the current technical environment, including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL/MariaDB, Pentaho, .NET, Java, PHP, ColdFusion, JavaScript, and other technologies. Establishing and ensuring consistent system development methodologies, templates, guidelines, checklists, and other artifacts to support repeatable processes. Supervising multiple software development teams and ensuring appropriate resource staffing levels. Implementing appropriate change control processes across development teams and ensuring integration across teams throughout the Judiciary. Assisting in defining the strategic direction for standardizing common technologies and toolsets. Developing and implementing coding security procedures. Working with the Chief Technology Officer and other senior management to implement solutions that align with the CIO strategic plans, enterprise architecture standards, and security best practices. Participating in associated change control boards by reviewing change requests and evaluating the completeness of request documentation and potential risk impacts to the Judiciary.
What you need to qualify
Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience must demonstrate ALL areas defined below: Leading and managing information technology teams responsible for the development, implementation, and support of enterprise business systems and solutions. Supporting enterprise business systems and solutions that support administrative functions such as human resources, finance, facilities, or other organizational operations. Developing, implementing, or overseeing enterprise technology solutions using system development methodologies, system architecture, data management practices, and related technologies.
