About the Position: The incumbent handles all types of hospital linen, clean or soiled, according to standardized procedures. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Major duties

Pick up soiled linen from departments in the hospital. Load dirty linen into laundry carts and weigh loaded laundry carts on scales to ensure accurate weight. Sorts folded items and stacks articles by item and by color. Assist in issuing linen over the counter to clinics. Assist with gathering fresh linen to be carted to wards. Clean work area, car and equipment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Laundry Worker without more than normal supervision. - I have the ability to perform common Laundry Worker duties such as collect, receive, and store linen and apparel, assemble and issue clean linen. I can set laundry machine by pressing keys and follow established sequences to set procedure accordingly of Laundry Work. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the incumbent to stand, walk, stoop, teach, stretch, bend, lift, and carry. Must be capable of lifting and carrying linen bags weighing up to 60 pounds. Must be able to pull and push loaded carts of clean and/ or soiled linen weighing up to 500 pounds. All physical efforts demand the continuous-coordination and the movement of hands, arms, legs, and feet with occasional physical strain exercised in the process of pushing, pulling and lifting heavy objects. Working Conditions: Personnel will be required to work on assignments that include periodic exposure to seasonal weather and interior areas that may or may not be air condition. This position is for permanent weekends.
