What you'd do

This position serves as a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist, located in the Office of Information Technology, Executive Office for Immigration Review, U.S. Department of Justice. The Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist is responsible for overseeing and safeguarding the implementation of cyber security programs designed to ensure information assets and technologies are adequately protected.

Major duties

The duties and responsibilities for a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist GS-2210-14 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides leadership and technical direction to staff responsible for providing information and security management of cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices. Analyzes DOJ information systems to ensure compliance with current commercial and government cybersecurity standards. Direct a team of vulnerability managers, incident responders, analysts and insider threat specialists to help minimize the risk to the DOJ information systems. Collaborates with the DevSecOps and Project Management teams to enhance security designs, security architecture, implementation, operations, and compliance. Renders advice to senior management officials on cybersecurity systems, processes andoperations to meet user requirements for the security management of program information.

What you need to qualify

To qualify for the position of Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist, at GS-2210-14, you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below. Basic Qualifications (2210 series): Please refer to the OPM IT Management Series 2210 Qualification Standard for the specific experience requirements for the GS-12 and above positions. AND Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-14 grade level, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable non-Federal experience. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following duties: Analyzing complex information systems to ensure compliance with Federal and commercial cybersecurity laws, regulations, and standards; Collaborating with cross-functional teams and leading the implementation of security architecture, controls, and risk management procedures; Conducting independent, comprehensive assessments of information systems, operational protocols, and technical security controls to determine the overall effectiveness of those controls; AND Developing policies, preventive measures, and maintenance documentation to support IT system security authorization and accreditation. You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by the 08/12/2026 of this announcement.
