Major duties

As a Supervisory Public Health Analyst for the Division of Maternal Child Health Workforce Development within the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) you will: Advise departmental leaders on public health principles, trends, resources, evidence-based interventions, and latest developments to build strategic alignment of grant and contract priorities across the Division to stimulate collaboration and advance the areas of workforce development, data, analysis, and evaluation. Supervise an interdisciplinary team of professionals with expertise in disability, medicine, public health, public policy, maternal and women's health, perinatal health, statistics, economics, data analytics, evaluation, impact analysis, modeling, program management, process improvement and/or administrative support. Advise on the development of logic models and program performance measures, ensure program data reporting systems, tools, and procedures for monitoring and analysis are included in program design, as well as assure all activities are compliant with legislative authority. Provide administrative and technical supervision; manage human resources and personnel actions; establish performance expectations; and communicate these expectations through informal feedback, regularly scheduled supervision meetings and periodic employee performance assessments.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Experience that provided: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: Analyzing program performance data to measure public health program outcomes and translating these findings into comprehensive reports. Providing authoritative leadership and guidance on the implementation of current, proposed, or new public health-related program policies and regulations and incentives. Exercising independent judgment in resolving complex programmatic and policy issues and advising senior leadership. Directing and supervising staff and technical experts, including workforce planning, and organizational development. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
