This vacancy is for a GS-0318-7, Secretary located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, FACILITIES DESIGN and CONSTRUCTION CENTER in NORFOLK, Virginia.

Major duties

You will serve as a Secretary and be responsible for wide variety of administrative and clerical support to the FDCC Commanding Officer and other management personnel and in general support of unit operations. Coordinates office procedures for an organization with subordinate units with a mission that impacts a wide variety of field units and mission accomplishments. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Management of leadership and share meeting space calendars. Preparation and dissemination of routine communications to unit personnel and organizational leadership. Timekeeper for civilian personnel & support routine administrative needs. Manage Travel review and approval. Manage outgoing correspondence to ensure compliance with command policies and procedures.

What you need to qualify

To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Managing leadership and shared calendar appointments. Handling routine official correspondence. Handling timekeeper duties Reviewing and approving federal employee travel. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
