This position serves as a Printing Services Specialist within the Medical Media Section, Education & Learning Resources Service at the VA North Texas Health Care System, Dallas, Texas. The VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS), located in Dallas, Texas, is part of VA Heart of Texas Network (VISN17).
Major duties
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major Duties: Leads all phases of the digitization workflow consisting of document inspection, document scanning, and quality control services. This involves collaborating with and informing colleagues of the time and specification requirements associated with printing services. Resolves production bottlenecks make decisions affecting day-to-day operations, (including method of scanning, handling of documents, and final approval or disapproval of scanned images in electronic format). Provides continuous quality improvement analysis, and formulating reports that document workflow accuracy, throughout, and pinpointing causes of non-compliant deliverables. Determines the best use of equipment and materials, advises on replacement equipment, while developing new services and improving quality of products. Primary resource regarding VA regulations governing printing, and the contract specialist for outsourcing printed materials for agency. Performs other duties as assigned. What you need to qualify
For GS-5: Possess one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level of GS-4 in Federal service. Specialized experience is overseeing the maintenance of all digital document equipment, keeping logs and records, and initiating maintenance calls; using office applications and desktop publishing software to provide a quality finished product; manipulating electronic files to print pre- printed documents to produce high end products on varied production/imaging systems. OR Possess four years above high school education. This education must have been obtained in a school such as college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR Possess an equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience that may be used to meet total experience requirements at GS-5 grade level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
