What you'd do

Reports to the New World Screwworm Chief in the New World Screwworm Directorate (NWSD), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Office of the Administrator. Serves as the Web Content Specialist for screwworm.gov, working with departmental officials, APHIS program managers, leaders, and public affairs specialists to manage New World Screwworm content.

Major duties

The duties may include, but are not limited to: Supports Agency-wide web policies and strategic plans for Screwworm.gov and advises NWSD staff on effective use of the web content management system. Coordinates with technical staff to publish content, resolve web issues, and implement improvements to NWS web products. Develops and posts emergency and emerging-issue webpages quickly as part of coordinated Agency communications. Writes, edits, and approves NWS web content, ensuring sensitive or interagency material receives proper clearance. Participates in departmental and interagency web initiatives to align NWS resources with broader Agency efforts. Promotes NWS web products and recommends innovative web solutions to support program goals and improve customer service.

What you need to qualify

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Collaborating with internal and external partners including federal agencies and contractors on the development and management of web content and resources. Coordinating with technical and non-technical staff to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems with web resources like Drupal and SharePoint. Monitoring and analyzing performance measures to improve informational web-based products. Ability to manage workload, to develop efficient and effective processes, and to communicate with managers and staff at all levels within the organization. Developing processes and procedures for organizing and managing informational products through records management lifecycle. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
