Major duties

As an Office Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a multitude of administrative and management programs supporting the posts of duty (PODs). These duties include providing overall administrative management to professional and administrative staff, ensuring full support for administrative and litigation programs, managing databases, and supporting automation initiatives. The Office Manager is also responsible for managing and overseeing subordinate staffs which may be located in multiple PODs.As an Office Manager, you will: Assists in directing all of the administrative/resources management activities necessary for the successful operation of assigned PODs, which may include support of Area Counsel(s), including budget management, personnel management and administration, facilities management, etc. Identifies and analyzes problems and issues, resource utilization and constraints, and coordination of management controls. Prepares, maintains, and executes the financial plan involving all categories of expenditures. Develops ad hoc and routine statistical analyses and management status reports, along with recommendations, for the Area Manager and Associate Chief Counsel (FM), for procedural and other changes necessary to adjust the work processes and staffing requirements of the FM POD staff to keep pace with the day-to-day needs of the Office of Chief Counsel. Reviews, analyzes, makes recommendations, and/or develops contingency plans based on financial, analyses and reports. Identifies trends and anticipates any adverse impact on budget and/or work plans. To qualify for this position of Office Manager you must meet the qualification requirements listed below by the closing of this announcement: For GS-11: Specialized Experience: Your resume must detail at least one year of specialized experience which includes:- Gathering data to estimate resource requirements- Prepare in-depth report to track progress of current goals- Procure office resources to include contractor support services and office suppliesThis definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education Substitution: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related. OR Combination of Education and Experience: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education: Options for qualifying based on a combination are identified in the online questions. NOTE: If qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application package. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume. Time in Grade Requirement for GS-11: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
