About the Position: This position serves as an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) at Pine Bluff Arsenal in Pine Bluff Arkansas.
Major duties
Troubleshoot production equipment to resolve mechanical issues and ensure reliable operation. Oversee mechanical repair and modification work to ensure conformance with established plans, specifications, and performance standards. Conduct studies on new or modified mechanical equipment to evaluate design approaches, test results, and necessary improvements. Perform tests on plant processes and mechanical equipment to verify performance and determine characteristics, limitations, and root causes of failures.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Experience assisting with mechanical repair or modification of equipment; supporting engineering studies or tests of mechanical systems; performing routine mechanical inspections or failure analyses using established procedures; and helping implement mechanical process or equipment improvements under the guidance of senior technicians or engineers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
