STRATEGIC PLANS & POLICY PLANNER
What you'd do
You will serve as a STRATEGIC PLANS & POLICY PLANNER of HEADQUARTERS US INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND.
Major duties
You will provide continuity planning knowledge and inputs to the development of USINDOPACOM contingency plans and annexes. You will lead and participate in Joint Planning Groups with subject matter experts to produce high-level briefings given to four-star officers, SES-level officials, and the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff. You will manage planning group sessions to guide the interaction between the Commander and staff, and the staff of higher, lower, and supporting commands. You will attend all required plan and assessment meetings as related to the contingency plans and host or participate in applicable conferences both physically and virtually. You will initiate preparation of timely reports, providing analysis on immediate or long-term subjects as self-generated or required.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing thorough theater knowledge of US PACOM strategy and understanding of linkages to national interests in order to apply U.S. strategic guidance; 2) Managing deliberate, contingency, and crisis action planning, while utilizing extensive knowledge of the planning continuum to include the Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES) and Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP), Joint Operating Concepts (JOCs), and Joint Capabilities Areas (JCAs); 3) Performing analysis of issues, preparing written reports, and providing oral briefings to higher level management through researching, developing and coordinating strategy, plans, programs, requirements, assessments, and operations directives; and 4) Utilizing computer skills in Microsoft office and information management software used to build and track plans, documents, presentations, and data matrices. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Eligible DoD career or career conditional employees shall be granted statutory return rights to their former position for a period of 5 years if continuously employed in a foreign or non-foreign area provided by Executive Order 10895 and DoDI 1400.25, v 1230. Employees that do not exercise their return rights within five years are no longer eligible for return rights and will be treated as a local hire.
