What you'd do

About the Position: The incumbent supports patient administration in issuing the common access cards.

Major duties

Control the issuance and accountability for a variety of ID cards, including Common Access Cards (CAC), for military personnel, civilians, and their families Process Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) applications and reviews documents to verify eligibility for medical and other privileges. Serve as the Primary Site Security Manager (SSM) and Super Verifying Officer (SVO), maintaining the security of DEERS/RAPIDS equipment and resolving technical problems. Manage, distribute, and monitor administrative duties for the CAC facility, ensuring regulatory guidance is followed. Respond to a variety of telephonic and written inquiries regarding eligibility for Uniformed Services CAC, ID cards, and DEERS enrollment, providing complete explanations on regulations. Train users in procedures to register their PKI certificates, publish to the Global Address List (GAL), and change smart card content such as network logins and passwords. Analyze and resolves complex, non-routine eligibility and system interrelationship problems across different technical systems (DEERS, RAPIDS, PKI).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing the issuance of government credentials and verifying personnel eligibility using automated enrollment systems; maintaining the security of identity management equipment; providing customer support and training to resolve complex eligibility inquiries and guiding users on credential management procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Public Administration, Business Administration, Business Management, Information Systems, Information Technology Management, Office management, Administrative management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
