What you'd do
This position is located at the Aquatics Center on Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives may be paid. Up to 25% recruitment and/or retention incentive may be paid (service agreement required). Recruitment incentives are applicable to newly hired individuals/rehired individuals.
Major duties
Performs lifeguarding duties and limited management functions. Ensures the safe operation of the pool, filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water test. Provides maximum surveillance of pool area and rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Distributes and balances work- load assuring that each employee has enough work to keep busy. Provides leadership, guidance and oversight in program operations.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possess and maintain the following certifications (A copy of each certification must be submitted at the time of application): Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent; i.e. Star Guard or Ellis) American Red Cross Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED) First Aid Possess one or more Instructor rating (A copy of each certification must be submitted at the time of application): American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGTI) authorization American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) authorization Aquatic Exercise Association Instructor (AEA) authorization Adapted Aquatic Instructor authorization
