Major duties
SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary point of contact to manage, develop, implement, and monitor the unit training program for the 8th Airlift Squadron. Provides oversight of a variety of training functions to include upgrade, proficiency, on-the-job, ancillary, and other job specific requirements. Duties include identifying, formulating, analyzing, tracking, scheduling, and managing training. DUTIES: 1. Responsible for overall management of the unit training program. 2. Reviews and verifies the accuracy and quality of squadron training. 3. Identifies training requirements, ensuring higher headquarters directives are incorporated into the training plan, identifying appropriate resources, ensuring funding is acquired for the identified training requirements and performs curriculum development duties. 4. Uses software to create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of documents in support of unit training.
What you need to qualify
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series. Specialized Experience External Candidates: One year of specialized experience for GS-06 grade/level or equivalent in the federal service, which includes knowledge of principles, policies, and procedures for administering the maintenance training operations program. Knowledge of an extensive body of rules, procedures, or operations requiring extended training and experience of maintenance training operations to perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard procedural assignments and resolve a wide range of problems. Knowledge of standard procedures in a technical field requiring extended training or experience. OR EDUCATION: Have successfully completed graduate level education in a field directly related to this position which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Have combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Therefore, applicant has a combination of experience and education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of training policies, programs and processes relating to On-the-Job Training (OJT), Career Development Course (CDC) administration, Career Field Education and Training Plans (CFETP), Specialty Training Standards (STS), Course Training Standards (CTS), and DOD/AF training policies, programs and processes. 2. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data, and maintain accurate files. 3. Skill in preparing written forms, schedules and reports relating to training programs. 4. Ability to plan and organize work independently. 5. Ability to read and interpret specific procedural guidelines pertaining to administrative support, including locally developed operating procedures and instructions, directly applicable to the work. 6. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, and consult effectively with co-workers and customers, using tact and courtesy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
