What you'd do

Volunteer, project-based opportunity to support real Federal missions, while gaining experience and career-ready skills. Students must be enrolled no less than half-time in an accredited trade school, technical/vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or other accredited institution. With this project, you¿ll support a software development-based project to enhance the visualization capabilities of the NAS Innovations and Emerging Capability (NIEC) cockpit simulator

Major duties

The Student Trainee will Enhance capabilities of existing Flight Simulator for use in research and development projects Improve integration with external data sources Update and develop flight simulator plugins Debug, test, and verify simulator software components The student will perform selected on the job assignments and receive instruction on agency or departmental goals, objectives, regulations, procedures, occupational hazards, safety standards, inspection techniques and work processes. APPOINTMENT: If selected, your volunteer role may not exceed a total of 120 days after completing educational requirements. Participation in this program may be terminated at any time. AGREEMENT: All participants must sign a written Volunteer Service Agreement with their manager that clearly identifies expectations of the appointment such as duties, length of appointment, work schedule, training, mentorship etc.
