What you'd do
You will serve as a CHEMIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY of NAVAL STATION.
Major duties
You will serve as the chemist responsible for the qualitive and quantitative chemical analyses in a wide variety of environmental samples. You will develop the methodology, test procedures, and the sequence to follow for complete chemical analyses You will maintain the quality assurance program to verify the validity of test results for accuracy and precision.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing analytical and testing methods for environmental samples; 2) Applying qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses in a wide variety of inorganic environmental samples; 3) Calibrating and operating analytical instruments, such as Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Emission (ICP) spectrometer, Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GS/MS), Oil/Grease system, flash point, etc.; 4) Providing chemical analytical service/expertise to solve hazardous waste disposal and environmental pollution problems; and 5) Searching pertinent literature and references to find and perform analyses on environmental samples.
