Health System Specialist (Compliance Officer)
What you'd do
One (1) Permanent Full-Time Health Systems Specialist (Compliance Officer) position to be filled in the Quality Management Department (QM) at the Whiteriver Service Unit in Whiteriver, Arizona. The Incumbent is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining the compliance program for WRSU. The Incumbent will be supervised by the QM Director. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Major duties
Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Recommends Compliance Program revisions to meet changes in the organization's needs and business and regulatory environment, to improve its effectiveness. Provides compliance information to help the service unit management find new ways to improve decision making, quality, and reduce its vulnerability to fraud, waste and abuse. Implements, documents and maintains a coordinated legislative and regulatory compliance program that meets the expectations of State and Federal regulations and Government Programs. Responsible for developing a tool to monitor and devise reporting mechanisms for high risk areas identified in audits in reference to compliance for the service unit. Conducts periodic reviews to assess adherence to service unit compliance plan requirements. Reviews shall include confirmation that appropriate records have been created and maintained. Conducts training to new and existing employees on compliance matters at the mandatory new staff orientation, general staff meetings and departmental meetings, and any other forums as requested.
What you need to qualify
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Serving as an expert in leading and overseeing a hospital compliance program including promoting ethics and integrity on hospital processes and procedures. Knowledge and experience in working with key individuals or key Agencies that specialize in hospital compliance and public health principles such as legal experts, clinical administrators and hospital administrators through a wide range of regulatory scenarios and circumstance. Demonstrated technical authority in the performance of internal risk assessments, investigative processes, compliance incidents, report finding, and development of solutions for various system-level processes to detect non-compliance and provide corrective measures for any violations and implement systems for internal controls for continued monitoring. Proficient in preparing reports and presenting them to Executive Leadership, governing bodies, stakeholders and regulatory agencies of either deficiencies or corrective action processes. Selective Placement Factor (SPF): This SPF has been added to this position as a requirement to qualify. You must show evidence of possession of a current certification as listed below and submit with your application documents to be considered qualified. Healthcare Compliance (CHC) by the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO) by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Compliance Professional (CCP) by the Health Ethics Trust Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements of the closing date of the announcement.
