SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER
What you'd do
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER in the the Lifting and Handling Technical Division (C710) of the Deputy Lifting and Handling Department (C701), in the Lifting and Handling Department (C700) Code of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Major duties
You will be responsible for the overall management and oversight of strategic planning, maintenance engineering, waterfront engineering, rigging engineering and process improvements. You will prepare recommendations for hiring, promotions, transfers, reassignments, recognition, and disciplinary actions. You will review and approve crane certification packages prior to presentation to the certifying official. You will provide long range planning necessary to ensure timely accomplishment of all nuclear and non-nuclear work. You will advise the Lifting and Handling Deputy Director on technical lifting and handling issues. You will be responsible for development and maintenance of a strategic plan, including a capital purchase program.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying civil (structural), mechanical, and electrical engineering principles and practices Experience developing strategic plans and long-range plans to support nuclear and non-nuclear work. Experience developing and managing resources. Experience interpreting directives as related to area of responsibility. Experience preparing and presenting information to the Shipyard management as well as managers and technical personnel of outside organizations and activities.
