Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Safety and Occupational Health Manager. Major duties

Plans, directs, and evaluates a comprehensive Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental (SOH&E) program supporting high-risk hydropower, construction, and maintenance operations. Serves as the primary technical advisor to leadership on safety, occupational health, and environmental compliance, policy, and risk management. Supervises and leads a multidisciplinary team of safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental professionals, ensuring effective program execution and staff development. Oversees industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, and behavioral-based safety programs to identify hazards, reduce risk, and ensure regulatory compliance. Reviews and evaluates work plans, contracts, and engineering designs to ensure integration of safety and environmental requirements. Leads accident investigations, analyzes risk, and implements corrective actions to improve safety performance and prevent recurrence. Performs other related duties as assigned within this job classification.

What you need to qualify

To qualify for this position, you must meet the Specialized Experience and Time-in-Grade requirements, as outlined below. Specialized Experience To qualify for the position, applicants must possess one full year of specialized experience that is comparable in scope and complexity to the GS-12 grade level in the federal civil service. Qualifying experience for the Safety and Occupational Health Manager position is defined as: Planning, implementing, and/or evaluating a comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) program in a high-risk industrial work environment; ensuring compliance with OSHA industry standards and corresponding laws and regulations; providing technical advisory services to management officials on a variety of SOH matters or concerns; conducting hazard analyses, inspections, and accident investigations in an industrial work environment; developing and/or implementing SOH policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies; supervising or leading personnel specializing in SOH and/or industrial hygiene. This definition of qualifying experience represents the type of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal civil service (GS-12). Time-in-Grade Requirement Eligible candidates must meet the Time-in-Grade requirement, in accordance with 5 CFR § 300.604, by the closing date of this job opportunity announcement. You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions, by 08/17/2026.
