What you'd do

You will serve as a SECRETARY (OA) in the FLEET READINESS of NAVAL STATION.

Major duties

You will compose correspondence on administrative or factual matters (e.g., administrative matters, letters of acknowledgement, general office policies, acceptance of invitations, scheduling/cancellation of meetings). You will coordinate appointment schedules (e.g., time allotted, sequence, importance) for senior management to alleviate scheduling conflicts. You will carry out day to day work independently, plans, and carry out successive steps and handle problems and deviations IAW applicable instructions, policies, and accepted practices. You will perform a variety of administrative support duties such as making travel arrangements, scheduling transportation and lodging and preparing itineraries when trip is multi-fold.

What you need to qualify

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Receiving phone calls, greeting visitors, and responding to routine requests for information; 2) Prioritizing requests for information and status inquiries to ensure office goals are met; 3) Maintaining an office calendar, scheduling appointments, and arranging meetings for executives and superiors while avoiding conflicts; 4) Preparing correspondence using correct grammar, spelling, capitalization, format, and punctuation in compliance with established procedures and regulations; and 5) Utilizing appropriate social etiquette and protocol when interacting with high-ranking officials and VIPs.
