Major duties
As an ENERGY INDUSTRY ANALYST some of your typical work assignments include: Possessing a comprehensive understanding of trading practices, energy products, risk assessment, and relevant market tools together with a knowledge of current market issues to assess market behavior and compliance with Commission rules. Utilizing Power BI, R, Python, and SQL to prepare and analyze data primarily associated with electric and natural gas markets for the purpose of evaluating market participant conduct. Individually and collaboratively, performing quantitative and analytical work relating to electricity and natural gas markets, clearly communicating findings orally and in writing. Utilizing GitHub for version control and collaboration.

GS-11: You can qualify based on your education OR one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Possessing a working knowledge of the United States' wholesale electricity and natural gas markets and experience in applying analytical techniques to produce and present insights, visualizations, and models that inform organizational decision making. GS-12: You must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in applying analytical techniques using Python or R to produce and present insights, visualizations, and models relating to the United States' wholesale electricity or natural gas markets that inform organizational decision making. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
