Chemical Equipment Repairer
What you'd do
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Major duties
Performs maintenance on a variety of chemical and biological protection equipment. Conducts testing to determine the repair that will be utilized. Disassembles instruments/components to inspect for worn or damaged parts. Complies with all environmental, security, safety administrative requirements.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Chemical Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. Duties which include working with chemical and biological protective equipment and perform troubleshooting tasks to diagnose the extent of repairs required. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Work is performed in standing, stooping and bending positions. Work is occasionally performed in a sitting position while making repairs at a workbench or using test equipment. Frequently handles items weighing 5-25 pounds and occasionally is required to lift items in excess of 45 pounds Work Conditions: Work is normally performed in a moderately lighted, heated and ventilated shop. Incumbents are subject to dirt and grease during work operations; also exposed to equipment under hydrostatic test up to 3000 psi. Work requires occasional use of protective clothing such as asbestos suits, rubber coats, aprons, gloves, masks, etc.
