This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as the Engineer Technician for Residential Communities.
Major duties
Serve as the Engineer Technician for Residential Communities and is responsible for construction oversight for the family housing privatization initiative. Review and evaluate technical specifications and proposals for all phases of family housing community planning, development, redevelopment, and construction. Prepare for periodic Community Development and Management Plan (CDMP) provisional renegotiations throughout the life of the privatization program. Performs quality assurance inspections and communicates with construction site point of contacts POCs to mitigate any construction problem areas. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level in the Federal service which includes experience as an engineer technician reviewing and evaluating contractual efforts concerned with the installation contracts in facilities engineering technical fields: mechanical, electrical, civil associated with real property or utility systems maintenance, repair, and new work.
