Major duties
MAJOR DUTIES: Serves as Human Resources Technician (Recruiter). Typical assignments include: recruiting, new employee orientation, developing job vacancy announcements and reviewing and rating job applicants for a variety of positions, determining eligibility and evaluating the relative value of an applicant¿s qualifications according to established credited plans procedures, etc. Extends job offers and initiates pre-employment processes including records checks, onboarding tasks, and in-processing briefings.Utilizes automated recruitment tools to generate and manage vacancy announcements, build applicant/position profiles, and track applicant eligibility. Ensures recruitment and selection processes are compliant with applicable laws, policies, and merit principles. May schedule interviews with managers and maintain contact with applicant. Attends different activities in the community that involve recruiting and branding NAF positions and maintains PeopleSoft Recruiting Solutions. Advises on all phases of the recruiting and staffing process including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, and in processing. Sources strategically for positions in order to deliver a robust slate of high quality candidates for immediate opening. Looks for ways to continuously improve sourcing capabilities and networks in order to meet ongoing recruiting needs. Advises hiring managers on best practices related to behavioral based interviews, strategic sourcing, and core competency recruiting. Screens and rates applicants as per established Marine Corps Order and local directives. Participates in local job fairs, briefings, and leadership training, as directed. Follows established policies and procedures within the personnel security program, including conducting background checks for new employees by collecting and verifying completeness of OF-306¿s, local records checks, and requesting appropriate information from candidates. Enters security data into PeopleSoft. Initiates and reviews preliminary criminal and motor vehicle report requests. Provides routine guidance to frequently asked questions received via telephone or email request and elevates complex issues to a supervisor as appropriate. In-processes new employees, and conducts new employee orientation. May assist in coordinating and administering local job fairs. Performs miscellaneous personnel clerical work such as preparing documents, letters, memos, and reports, compiling information for reports, maintaining files, and assisting with mail activities. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Maintains confidentiality at all times. Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need to qualify
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources or administrative work that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, and policies applicable to recruiting and staffing. Ability to analyze, problem-solve, and make decisions to implement appropriate recruiting strategies to fill vacancies. Proficiency in operating a personal computer and software programs to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing requirements while maintaining excellent customer service skills. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to convey a wide variety of information to diverse audiences. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism in handling and working with highly confidential personnel and compensation. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
